Presentation of the Silver Carnation
The Silver Carnation is a Dutch award that is presented annually to persons of impeccable patriotic behavior who, in any form of voluntary work, have earned outstanding merits for the Dutch culture or for that of the Netherlands Antilles.
The project
The Silver Carnation of the Prince Bernhard Cultuurfonds was awarded this year to Barend van Benthem, Janine and Joop van den Ende and Johan Veenstra. It is the 71st edition of this award for special and voluntary commitment to culture or nature. The Silver Carnation was presented in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix, on Friday 4 June at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
The challenge
The award ceremony is held annually in the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. A special location, which of course the winners also appreciate. Due to the strict corona measures, the ceremony will be cast in an online broadcast in 2021. In order to retain the feeling of this special moment, it was decided to do this live from the Palace.
The result
We opted for an online broadcast where the winners and the entertainment were present live at the location. The other guests watched live. In this way we were able to honor the special place and the winners received the honor in the palace.
Sara Neering
"For this assignment, we built a studio setting in the civilian hall of the Paleis op de Dam, naturally with respect for this beautiful, monumental location. We have never had such a chic back-stage and directing. Truly a unique event where I and my colleague Ineke look back with great pleasure."
